Mission Statement

What kind of world should we live in? What can I do to bring this world about? How can my influence affect the world? Answering these questions constitutes a mission. Teachers are not just people – they’re special people. Their unique position of influence on young lives helps shape the world. However, with this comes great responsibility.

As a teacher I strive to create a learning environment that:

  • Is Safe, and promotes community and self-expression.
  • Invites learners to explore their identity and their vision for the future.
  • Challenges learners to pilot their own ship, especially in the vast sea of education.
  • Raises the enduring human questions.
  • Confronts the societal and historical forces that impact learners’ lives.
  • Explores the relationship between freedom and education.
